Opportunities
Planting churches in new provinces is difficult in Papua New Guinea because of the cultural and tribal divisions. A church planting facilitator is needed to work alongside pastors to identify new potential areas of ministry and to provide training to church planters.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a Bible college or university, preferably in missions or pastoral ministry. The facilitator will also need to be prepared to live in any type of area, sometimes remote, as the ministry involves living in the area of the church plant.

Ministry Description
Most people in PNG still live in grass huts and survive on their gardens. At the same time, they are trying to adjust to life in a complicated, technological world. And while 43 percent of Papua New Guineans consider themselves Protestant Christians, they often mix the truths of Christianity with their traditional beliefs and animistic customs. The people of PNG need to know the saving love of Jesus and the freeing power of that love. Christian Union Church seeks to meet this need through preaching and teaching.

- With over 800 languages, PNG is linguistically the world’s most complex nation. Church services are conducted and Bibles are written in Melanesian Pidgin, the local trade language.
- Christian Union Church, formed in 1964 by Churches of Christ in Christian Union missionaries, currently has about 120 congregations and approximately 90 national pastors in seven districts and areas. While some churches have buildings, other congregations meet in grass huts or under trees.
- Men and women have very distinct roles in Papua New Guinean society. Women in the garden, take care of the children and pigs, and look after the home while men traditionally handle all negotiations.
