Shelley Chapman

The spiritual and material well-being of individuals and communities are shaped by innumerable challenges—poverty, economic disparity, conflict, theological confusion, and more—which call out for effective and unifying Christian leadership. The need and opportunity are especially compelling throughout the continent of Africa.

My work aims to integrate Christian spiritual transformation with the development of knowledge and practical skills that leaders need to be able to address these challenging complexities in African contexts.

I work mostly with two populations: (1) PhD students who are conducting important research to address complex systemic problems in various African contexts and (2) African women who are learning how to work directly with women who face challenging living situations and barriers to thriving. Along with several of these African women, I help facilitate the Living Learning Community for Leadership Development with African Women.
