Robyn Moore

Robyn Moore’s journey with Jesus began at a young age, when she accepted Him as her Savior just before turning 12. Her parents took her to church shortly after birth, and she was saved at Cedar Road Missionary Church in Osceola, IN. It was during a mission conference in high school that Robyn felt the call to be a missionary. This calling was not a surprise to her family, especially her mother, who recalled Robyn’s early dilemma as a five-year-old: whether to be a nurse or a missionary. Little did she know that God had planned for her to fulfill both roles.
Robyn’s path to becoming a global worker was shaped by significant life transitions and challenges. Moving to Berne, Indiana, at the age of 12 marked the beginning of her deep involvement in the church community, where her faith was nurtured and her calling was solidified. The diagnosis of her baby sister, Kelli, with cystic fibrosis was another pivotal moment that deepened her reliance on God. Robyn’s early exposure to missions through her volunteer work in Burundi before her senior year of nursing school ignited a passion for Africa, which would later define her ministry.
For 23 years, Robyn served as a pediatric nurse at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya. Her ministry evolved as God placed a burden on her heart for orphans and vulnerable children. This calling led her to Nairobi, where she worked with the Least of These Ministry for the remainder of her missionary service, caring for marginalized children and young adults. Her compassion extended beyond physical care, as she nurtured these young souls with love and a sense of worth in Christ. Robyn’s involvement with missionary kids (MKs) also brought her immense joy, offering her a refreshing break from the intense demands of her work.
Throughout her ministry, Robyn witnessed God’s miracles and answers to prayers. She learned that God’s grace is sufficient, even in the face of suffering and death. Her trust in God was unwavering, even when answers didn’t come in the way she expected. She discovered that sometimes healing comes through eternal rest, and she found peace in God’s sovereignty.
As Robyn transitions into retirement, her heart remains in Kenya. She plans to continue supporting her team and visiting the country at least once a year. Additionally, she will serve at Margie’s Place, a home for women in crisis pregnancies, and remain active in her church, First Missionary Church in Berne. Robyn looks forward to spending more time with her family and her extended missionary family, cherishing the support they have given her throughout her journey.
Scriptures like Joshua 1:9 and Philippians 1:6 have guided Robyn through her mission, reminding her of God’s presence and strength. As she reflects on her journey, her advice to those beginning their missionary careers is simple: “Hold on. It’s going to blow your mind how God is going to help you do so much more than you can imagine. It’s going to be AMAZING!”
Robyn’s greatest accomplishments are not just in the lives she saved or the degrees she earned, but in the spiritual growth she fostered in young Kenyans, the healing she witnessed, and the love of Christ she shared with countless children and adults. Her home, fondly known as “Robyn’s Nest,” became a haven of hospitality, where she welcomed many into her life and ministry.
As we celebrate Robyn Moore’s incredible 43 years of service, we are reminded of the impact one person can have when they fully commit their life to God’s calling. Robyn’s legacy will continue to inspire and bless those who had the privilege of knowing her and those who will benefit from her work for generations to come.
