Tim and Aleyda Spetnagel

We are the Spetnagel family, and for the past 25 years, we have had the privilege of serving God in Honduras.

Our ministry’s mission is to bring hope through education and food programs. Many of the children and youth we serve face the harsh realities of extreme poverty—circumstances that often force them to abandon not only their dreams but also the hopes of their families. However, we firmly believe that Christ is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and transforming lives.

Currently, we serve in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where we coordinate Christian education at a local church. Aleyda is the Subdirector at Brazos de Jesús, and she also teaches vocational education with the high school and junior high. In this past term, God has led us to expand our work, opening new doors for ministry beyond the city. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we feel a deep calling to reach even more people with His love.

Our primary ministry is at Proyecto Brazos de Jesús (Arms of Jesus Project), which provides education, nutrition, medical care, and evangelism to over 300 children whose families work in the city’s garbage dump. Many of these children once had no hope of receiving an education or building a future. But since the project's inception in 2015, Brazos de Jesús has grown into a fully functioning school, offering classes from kindergarten through ninth grade. Our mission is to give these children a new perspective—one filled with faith, hope, and the knowledge that they are deeply loved by Christ.

Every day, we witness families surviving solely on what they can scavenge from the garbage dump. Seeing this heartbreaking reality reaffirms the calling God has placed on our hearts—to be a light for the forgotten people of Honduras. Through Proyecto Brazos de Jesús, we minister to children rescued from the dump, sharing Christ’s love to break the chains of poverty and sin, bringing transformation to their lives and communities.
