Payroll/Benefits Specialist

Job Title: Payroll/Benefits Specialist

Supervision: Director of Human Resources

Job Purpose & Summary: The Payroll/Benefits Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and reconcile entries for payroll and benefits. Responsible for having overall knowledge of all human resources functions. Provides exceptional communication and service to employees.

Location: Headquarters Office (Marion, Indiana)

Employment Status: Full-time

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Timely and accurate payroll processing for monthly and bi-weekly payrolls.
  2. Process employee Time and Attendance data to payroll and reconcile variances. Approve and release time in the time system.
  3. Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll reports.
  4. Maintain benefit hours (vacation, sick, holiday, etc.)
  5. Develop in-depth understanding of payroll/HR software (Paycor).
  6. Ensure the retirement plan contributions and payments are correctly applied to payroll.
  7. Assist in all employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans.
  8. Generate and develop reports from Paycor to enhance data collection.
  9. Carry out other assignments as requested by supervisor.

Special Requirements:

  1. Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  2. Good moral character
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  4. Exceptional interpersonal skills
  5. Should reflect WGM’s philosophical concept of human services which are motivated by a personal commitment to Christian service
  6. Willingness to get training in insurance licensure course

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration (preferred)
  2. Successful experience in processing payroll
  3. Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office
