Worship and Administrative Assistant

Job Title: Worship & Administrative Assistant

Supervision: Director of the Asbury Student Involvement Center

Job Purpose & Summary: The purpose of the assistant director role is to help oversee the administration of the WGM Center and to help increase the number of students mobilized by WGM. Discipling and mentoring students, helping them to discover their role in the Great Commission, is a primary part of this job.

Location: WGM Center at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY

Employment Status: Part-time

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the administrative tasks of the WGM Center. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Reservations for the guest rooms;
    2. Managing budget and tracking receipts;
    3. Caring for and creating inventory for the center's needs in tandem with the operations assistant;
    4. Coordinating/overseeing the hospitality needs of the WGM Center.
  2. Assist in the oversight of the Student Leadership Team with the supervision of Director. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Intentional leadership development with the student executive team in weekly meetings and beyond;
    2. One-on-one mentoring with students on the leadership team;
    3. Planning and facilitating meetings among students.
  3. Assist with Global Café. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Leading the student worship team, planning weekly worship set, and directing student volunteers;
    2. Guiding students in their leadership roles at Global Café and other WGM events;
    3. Assisting with setup and tear-down for Global Café and other WGM events.
  4. Disciple and mobilize students and others.
    1. Leading an annual short-term trip in the summer for Asbury University students;
    2. Promoting mid-term opportunities among Asbury University and Seminary students;
    3. Communicating regularly with the WGM Trip Logistics Coordinator and other mobilization staff to ensure efficient processing of applicants;
    4. Recruiting and mobilizing teams with Asbury University and Asbury Seminary groups;
    5. Coordinate with Asbury University for other campus mobilization opportunities, such as Great Commission Congress;
    6. Discipling and mentoring university students.
  5. Carry out other assignments as requested by Director.

Special Requirements:

  1. Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  2. Good moral character and exceptional interpersonal skills
  3. Good physical condition
  4. Should reflect WGM’s philosophical concept of human services which are motivated by a personal commitment to Christian service
  5. Able to articulate and expound upon WGM’s theological positions
  6. Experience in cross-cultural ministry and/or missions service

Qualifications:

  1. A burden for the Gospel, the Great Commission, and the mobilization of missionaries
  2. Self-motivation to work in a non-traditional, mobile-office setting
  3. Availability for some travel and non-traditional office hours as needed
  4. Excellent public relations skills, both one-on-one and in public speaking situations
  5. Quality digital, writing, and communication skills
  6. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
