Prayer Guide Fall/Winter 2022

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1 (NIV)

Ask the Lord to reveal people in your life who lack a reason to hope, those who view life as a burden or dreary task. Ask Him to put you in relationships with people who need to hear the rest of the story.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28–30

As we enter a new year, pray that missionaries would feel the refreshment and renewal that comes from turning the calendar over. Ask the Lord, whose burden is light, to take away unnecessary weight from their shoulders.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

Pray for missionaries who are in transition: going from one ministry to another, returning to the field, or experiencing a major life change. Ask the Lord—who never changes—to smooth the rough edges of change.

“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:22–23

Praise God for collaboration amongst ministries that displays what Jesus prayed for in John 17. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where missionaries can partner with each other and for open lines of communication.

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10

Pray for the seeds that missionaries have planted around the world. Pray that those who have heard the Word will be transformed by it and join the work of making disciples.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland…I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. Isaiah 43:19–21

Praise God for the life that’s springing up around you, both physically and spiritually. Take time to notice what He’s doing and pray for Him to replicate this flourishing around the world.
