Prayer Guide: The Call 2024–2025

Prayer Guide: The Call 2024–2025

THE CALL: 2024-2025    |    2 MINUTE READ
CONNOR OWEN, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

A young WGM missionary who had been in an Eastern European country for a few months was asked: What do the prayers of your supporters mean to you?

The missionary paused.

Ten seconds went by.

Finally, she said, “I wouldn’t be here. I’d have gone home a long time ago.”

Throughout history, God has always been looking for someone to pray. Dr. Dennis Kinlaw wrote that “the Old Testament shows God searching for an intercessor,”¹ and that throughout the Old Testament, it’s as if God was saying, “If I could find the right person, my circumstances would be altered.”²

Time and again, you have been that person God was looking for. You’ve prayed when your missionary was in a spiritual crisis, when their children were sick, and when all hope seemed lost.

You brought your missionary before God, just like Aaron and his ephod (Exodus 28).

Think of this prayer guide as just that—an ephod. It’s something you can refer to as you kneel by your bed, as you wait in the doctor’s office, or as you walk your neighborhood. May this guide be your ephod that gives you the words to pray over your missionary each day.

During your time of prayer, use these Psalms and simple prayers to pray specific and powerful prayers over your missionary! Where there is a blank, insert the name of your missionary or their ministry location.

Sunday | RESTORE

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. (Psalm 62:1 NIV)

God, provide rest for _________ today. They work so hard for your kingdom in ______. But today, let them set down the work and have their soul restored through Sabbath rest.

Monday | REVIVE

Revive us so we can call on your name once more. (Psalm 80:18 NLT)

God, revive _______’s calling today. Breathe energy into them and renew the passion of what you have called them to today.

Tuesday | PROVIDE

He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. (Psalm 111:5 NIV)

God, provide food and all that _______ needs today. Please don’t let them go without their necessities. And where there is a gap—use me and your people to help fill it!

Wednesday | CROWN

For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. (Psalm 149:4 NIV)

God, crown _______ with victory for you in all they do today. Allow the work of their hands to produce a crop that is 30, 60, 100 times what was sown.

Thursday | LOVE

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. (Psalm 90:14 NIV)

God, fill ________ with your love today, all the way to the brim. If they’ve forgotten or feel far from you, remind _______ of your deep and abiding love. And allow their ministry to flow out of that love today.

Friday | PROTECT

Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. (Psalm 5:11 NIV)

God, protect those in hard places whose safety is at risk just for saying your name. And protect _________ as they follow you wherever you call them. Protect them because they love your name!

Saturday | SUSTAIN

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22 NIV)

God, after a long week of ministry, sustain ___________. Invite them to put all their worries and tasks at your feet, and then sustain their hearts so that they can continue doing the work you’ve called them to.
