The People He Wanted Involved
THE CALL: 2026–2027 | 8 MINUTE READ
NAOMI YODER, CONTENT MANAGER
"As a family of four moving to Kenya, the numbers can look intimidating, but it's never been about the money. God's got His own reputation at stake. If God wants us there, He'll get us there and in His timing."
When Staci and Wycliff Keter felt God calling them back to Kenya after thirteen years away from the field, their mindset going into training was more to “raise Jesus and see what He wants to do" than just raising support. God blessed them immensely by providing more than finances, but a team of people who came around them to join their mission and support them during Homeland Ministry Assignment (HMA). The Keters have story upon story of “people using whatever they had to be a part of this journey.”
The Stories of God’s Faithfulness
One such story was of a man from their church. Matt* felt led by Jesus to sell his valuable knife collection and give the money to the Keters. Not only was this integral in his own walk with Christ, but when he went to sell the knives and the man behind the counter asked why he was selling them, it became an opportunity to minister to the shop owner. It wasn’t until months later that Matt approached Staci and Wycliff in the park to tell them the story, unsure if he should share it or not. But they’re so glad he did. These stories have been such an encouragement to the family, and a picture of the creative ways that Jesus works. Staci said, “It's a part of their own journey with Jesus. It's not just about us getting to the field."

Another gift of time and talent showed up as bookends for the Keters’ HMA season in one woman. She is a photographer who took the family’s photo for their prayer card at the very beginning of their HMA, and as they were preparing to leave for Kenya, she came forward again: as a truck driver by trade, she offered to drive them to the airport.
“We're doing this together," Staci reflected. Sometimes, doing it together showed up as the act of inviting people into the messiness of life. Friends packed their suitcases when they found themselves in a time crunch. Another gift was as simple as someone offering, “I’m going to type this spreadsheet for you,” when packing their shipping container. Folks sent meals. Some felt called to pray for very specific things.
They were surrounded by prayer—not just Staci and Wycliff but their kids as well—and they deeply felt God’s hand in their lives and the lives around them. Their core multi-generational prayer group covered every moment in prayer: every small group or Sunday school presentation, every single coffee meeting, every training session, every moment of preparation and transition.

The Keter's HMA team prays over them before they prepare to leave.
The stories could go on of how God showed up in a fast and powerful way through their church and community (seriously, people were continuously asking, “How can we be involved?” from beginning to end). And within 6-7 months from the official meeting that launched their HMA, the family of four arrived in Kenya, never having even sent one letter asking for support.
Staci told us, "It's just God's work. It's just what He wanted to do and the time that He wanted to do it in and the people that He wanted to be involved.”
What They're Doing Now
Of course, the story continues with the family as they settle into the reality and practicality of actually living and working in Kenya. Psalms 90 and 91 have become a steady reminder that the Lord Himself is their dwelling place. Staci and Wycliff work with the Africa Gospel Church Kenya (a denomination) in discipleship ministries. In 2025 alone, the denomination saw about 20,000 people come to Christ, so there's a definite need for strong discipleship for these new followers of Jesus. As Staci said, “We love that people have an encounter with Jesus, but we want them to learn to walk with Jesus." This is the calling they're passionate about pursuing, and we’re excited to see how God continues to move in response to their faithfulness. They are also helping with the missions department, extending member care for the Kenyan missionaries sent through Africa Gospel Church, so that they are strengthened to endure in their work of sharing Jesus.
Two of their four children are with them, Eliana and Isaiah, while their other two, Gifton and Solomon, remain in the U.S., building their lives as young adults. Eliana and Isaiah have started school and are enjoying finding their place in their new surroundings. It was important to Staci and Wycliff that their kids were being poured into and prayed over as well, so the kids have people who have specifically staked a claim to praying over them as they learn to adjust to life in Kenya.

ACTION STEPS
PRAY: Thank God for faithful communities who surround missionaries like the Keters. Consider how God might use you and your gifts in furthering His kingdom across and throughout the nations. Pray for the Keters as they continue to adjust to life in Kenya, especially for the kids as they go to school, that they find the right people to surround themselves with. Pray also for wisdom to know what God's call for them looks like practically in the day to day as they disciple new believers. Pray that they may continue to rest in the knowledge that the Lord is their dwelling place.
GIVE: Is God calling you to help send the next Staci and Wycliff? The same God who provided a community around the Keters is still calling people to join His mission today. By giving to the Launch Project, you can help future missionaries receive the training, support, and ministry partnership foundation they need to follow God's call and awaken every nation to the heart and mission of Jesus.
GO: Are you passionate about discipleship? Or Kenya? Or both? You could be the next Staci and Wycliff.
Meet the Author
Naomi Yoder
Having grown up in a strong mission-focused church, Naomi is thrilled to be working at WGM as Content Manager. She is passionate about people hearing the stories of God’s faithfulness so that they, in turn, may be encouraged to pray for the work that's being done or even go themselves. Naomi loves to travel and experience God’s creation all around the world, but when she isn’t doing that, you’ll find her either reading a book or hanging out with friends and family.
Meet WGM's Missionaries in Kenya
Wycliff and Staci are excited to journey alongside Africa Gospel Church Kenya in discipleship and pastoral training. Wycliff is an ordained pastor with AGC Kenya, and the two have a history of serving in Kenya thirteen years ago before God called them back again as “second career” missionaries.
