If and When You Go

If and When You Go

JUNE 10, 2025   |   3 MINUTE READ/WATCH
SHEA BROWN, STAFF WRITER

“We are called to Africa,” said one of the four young college students to the board of World Gospel Mission. They had driven to Chicago from Wilmore, Kentucky, to talk with the board about opening a field in Africa. In 1927, WGM only had one field and did not have the funds to open another.

The leader of prayer bands responded, “It is not how much money we have, but is it God’s will for us to open work in Africa?” The meeting concluded with no definitive answer.

When the board president left, he discovered that the mail had arrived. In it, he found a letter from an attorney in Iowa who was settling an estate.

The estate left $5,000 to be used if and when WGM would open work in Africa. It was the exact amount needed for WGM to open a new field in Africa.

These college students held onto their calling with incredible faith, believing that God would provide a way for them to get to Africa. WGM has a history of sending passionate Christ-followers with no worldly plan other than to trust God. What step of obedience do you need to take to follow the Lord’s leading in your life?

Watch Meshack Habib share Bob Smith’s story—and how God has remained faithful!
