One Gospel. One Purpose.

One Gospel. One Purpose.

DAN SEARLS, MISSIONS AND CHURCH ENGAGEMENT

Missions isn’t simply another type of ministry that a church may or may not prioritize. It’s part of who the church is.

There is no such thing as a church without missions. Nor can there be missions without the church.

One Gospel. One Purpose.

It can be tempting to treat missions as a separate lane, something handled by organizations or carried by a few with a particular calling. Often that doesn’t come from resistance, but from routine. Over time, mission can become something we support rather than something that shapes us.

When that happens, we miss an opportunity to live into our calling. Our church may still be faithful, but less expectant. Active, but less alive to what God might want to do next. Is there more God wants to awaken in our church, and in us?

Is there more God wants to awaken in our church, and in us?

Scripture suggests there is. God has always intended His church and His mission to move together, because they belong together.

Father, Son, and Spirit are one.

Husband and wife are one.

In the same way, the church and God’s mission are one story with one purpose.

When mission becomes woven into the life of a church, it doesn’t just expand what the church does. It deepens who the church becomes. Faith grows. Vision widens. Joy and fruitfulness begin to mark the life of the congregation in new ways.

What Is God Inviting Your Church Into?

God is still calling His church into His mission. Many churches find themselves asking what faithfulness looks like in their current season, especially when what once felt clear now feels less certain or less alive.

Sometimes that question comes after years of doing good, steady ministry. Sometimes it surfaces when leaders sense there could be more fruit, more joy, or a deeper alignment between what the church believes and how it lives that out.

There’s no single right entry point:

  • Some churches begin with a short-term trip.
  • Others focus on prayer for a specific place or people.
  • Some want to strengthen relationships with missionaries they already support.

What matters most isn’t where you start. It’s responding to the invitation God is placing in front of you, one faithful step at a time.

You don’t have to discern that step alone. We want to come alongside you, listen well, and help you prayerfully explore what God may be inviting your church into next.

PRAY: In Luke 10:2, Jesus says the field is ripe for harvest, but the workers are few. Join us in praying that more churches will engage with global missions and step into what the Lord is calling them to.
