Approaching the Lord

Expressing gratitude for the Lord is a spiritual practice that is easy to put at the bottom of our list of priorities. WGM missionaries and Africa Gospel Church leaders Kennedy and Lillian Kirui recognize the blessing it is to approach God with our praise.
In this devotional, Kennedy and Lillian retell a bit of the story of Daniel—an Old Testament man who made praise a priority in tough times and found peace in the Lord’s presence.
Daniel worked for a pagan king who forbade everyone in his kingdom from worshipping God. Everyone was obligated to bow and worship the king. When Daniel learned about this decree, he immediately went home to his upstairs room to pray.
The Bible records he went down on his knees and prayed: “giving thanks to his God, just like he had done before” (Daniel 6:10, NIV).
Even in a seemingly difficult situation, Daniel did what he’d always done, went down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God.
What a blessing it is that we can approach God regardless of where we find ourselves. He is not limited by human decrees or geographical locations. He is approachable and accessible to us all.
