WGM’s desire is to engage in “Ministries that reach out to the whole person.” In Uganda, this looks like partnering with the Africa Gospel Church (AGC) in a variety of ways.

In 1992, WGM sent veteran missionaries Larry and Joy McPherson to serve alongside Ugandan nationals, and since then, AGC has grown exponentially and expanded its ministries into Uganda and surrounding countries. In 2011, AGC received official registration as a church body from the Ugandan government.

With an increasing need for trained and qualified ministers within Uganda, pastoral training has become essential. WGM partners with AGC to provide a multilevel pastoral training program that includes a dynamic three-year curriculum, biblical and theological education in the classroom, and practical ministry opportunities for Ugandan pastors. This ministry has seen thousands succeed in the program.

Other ministries include Community Health Empowerment (CHE), which provides a model for trained Ugandans to help lift their community out of the cycle of poverty—both spiritual and physical—through Farming God’s Way, Women’s Cycle of Life (focusing on empowering women), and Children’s CHE. Through these programs, Ugandans may see that God wants his people to live abundant and healthy lives, able to experience peace and love through Him.

WGM also works through a variety of educational ministries. A Christian day school in Kampala, Heritage International School provides faith-based education to Ugandan students, missionary kids, and other expatriates. Just a few miles off the coast of the Ugandan mainland, Buvuma Island in Lake Victoria is home to Kikongo Primary school which specializes in ministering to orphans; approximately 150 currently attend the school to receive an education and meals. Reaching into higher education, the University Discipleship Movement is a student-led, campus-based discipleship organization that is rapidly spreading in East Africa.

WGM is excited to help work through and support these ministries in bringing education and the gospel to Uganda.

Partner with WGM Uganda:

Pray: Pray that the ministries continue to “reach out to the whole person,” that local pastors are trained and prepared for whatever challenges they may face, and that the educational and community restoration programs reach the Ugandans where they are and reveal God’s love.

Give: General Fund donations contribute toward providing scholarships for students, supporting the AGC church, assisting with community growth programs, and maintaining the pastoral training program. Thank you for your partnership!
