Bolivia General Fund

Bolivia is a developing country with a great need for the gospel. Since the first WGM missionaries arrived in 1944, the focus has been on developing the World Gospel Church of Bolivia, creating disciples and evangelizing throughout the region, and fostering educational opportunities that help Bolivians escape the destructive cycle of poverty.

Often called a “young country,” Bolivia has a median age of only 23 years old, and over 53 percent of the population is under the age of 24. As a result, many of WGM’s projects are tailored to reach this demographic and find the most effective way to spread the gospel. With 42% of the population living on under $2 a day, Bolivia is also the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

With around 6,000 members, the World Gospel Church of Bolivia has seen a steady growth since its creation over 70 years ago. Churches have been planted in eight of the nine Bolivian states, with church headquarters in one of the fastest-growing cities in South America, Santa Cruz. The focus of WGM and World Gospel Church’s partnership has been on evangelizing (sending workers out both nationally and abroad), discipleship, and providing medical, health, and disaster outreach programs for communities who have physical as well as spiritual needs.
