Ministry Description:

The SKD Guatemala ministry is looking for a committed, caring, passionate youth worker to coordinate the outreach work to young people at risk in the programme and to take charge of a new mentoring centre in Guatemala City. The mentoring centre is an exciting development of the mentoring programme for at-risk youth and has a focus on music and art therapy, with its own radio station and coffee shop. We are currently finding funding to build the last stage, which will include a climbing wall, gym, training room, and we hope to expand it with a small outdoor sports area.

The ministry would love to welcome a young and energetic person who has a passion for mission and can help train youth for mission service, coordinate the spiritual side of the programme that will include nights of prayer and worship, and work with a great team in the development of a new curriculum to teach young people the basics of the Christian faith and how to serve Jesus in mission.

The SKD Guatemala project works in partnership with Street Kids Direct (UK) and WGM and reaches high-risk children and youth in Guatemala City. The program is well developed and includes street outreach, prevention work, a specialist mentoring program, and a day center where children and youth can come for homework help, support, and counselling. The SKD project seeks to develop long-term relationships with high-risk children in order to prevent their living on the streets.

The new mentoring centre is well placed near central transport links and shopping centers and is in a safe neighbourhood with the national police in front of the centre.
