Ministry Description
For decades, Kibimba Hospital has stood as a beacon of hope for the poor, the vulnerable, and the forgotten in Burundi. Today, we are facing a crisis that only God, working through His people, can answer. Our beloved Medical Director and the hospital’s only consultant general surgeon, Dr. Elisée Nahimana, has been ill for the past month and required urgent transfer to Kenya for further evaluation and treatment. We do not know how long his recovery will take, nor when he will be able to return. What we do know is that Kibimba now stands without a surgeon for the first time in many years, and the weight of this absence is already being felt across our community.
Dr. Elisée, even after retirement, continued to serve sacrificially because there was no one else to take his place. His hands have brought healing to thousands. His absence is not just a staffing problem—it is a spiritual and humanitarian emergency.
At this moment, countless patients, many of them poor or socially vulnerable, are waiting for surgeries they cannot access elsewhere. Some cannot afford other hospitals. Some have no family who can accompany them far from home. Many simply have nowhere else to go. Their suffering is quiet, but it is real. Their hope rests on the mercy of God and the compassion of those He calls.
Therefore, we send out this desperate appeal to the global body of Christ:
If you are a general surgeon—or know one—whom God may be calling, whether for a short-term assignment or a long-term commitment, Kibimba needs you. Burundi needs you. The kingdom needs you.
This is not just an opportunity for service; it is a sacred calling to stand in the gap at a time when the harvest is great and the laborers are painfully few. It is a chance to embody the heart of Jesus, who healed the sick, bound up the broken, and cared for the least of these.
Kibimba Hospital is ready to welcome you, support you, and stand with you as you serve. If the Lord is stirring your heart, please reach out. Your obedience could literally save lives.
