Papua New Guinea: Health Worker
Opportunities
There is so much medical need in Papua New Guinea. In rural areas (where most of the population lives), health care is not easily accessible. Almost 40% of the population lives in poverty, and many people do not have consistent access to clean water. One in thirteen children die every year, mostly from preventable diseases.

- Applicants must have a degree and experience in the medical field.
- Flexibility and the ability to rough it are needed, as doing ministry in PNG will take you into remote areas without modern conveniences.
Location
Based in the Highlands of PNG
Length of Service
Mid-term: one to twenty-four months
Long-term: two or more years
Ministry Description
The Christian Union Church (CUC) oversees clinics in remote areas. You would work in the clinics alongside Papua New Guinean staff. Depending on your experience, you could also help give more training to the national staff as they work with you. You would also be showing the love of Jesus as you care for patients with love and dignity. There would be the opportunity, too, to travel further into the bush to hold clinics or basic medical and hygiene training.
