Do you want to use your love for coffee, and your management skills to make an impact for Christ? Taylor Community Center (TCC) located in McAllen, Texas is dreaming of creating a welcoming space for meaningful conversations and community networking where relationships are deepened, individuals are refreshed, and God’s love and Word are shared over coffee!
Renovations are planned to open a new coffee ministry and gathering place in our community center. As the coffee shop manager, you will have opportunities to interact with a wide variety of community members, sharing the love of Christ through word and deed.
As members of our community arrive for meetings, fellowship, conversations, relaxation, or just a cup of coffee, you will be the smiling face ready to greet and serve. Your service will be a catalyst for gathering people as we seek to build and deepen relationships and that point to the source of abundant life, Jesus Christ.
Qualifications
- Coffee shop experience, business experience or training, organizational and management skills, willingness to serve as part of a team
- Love for God and people and a passion for relational evangelism
Language Requirements
English is required, but Spanish will be helpful as many local families speak only Spanish. Spanish language school is required for full-time missionaries.
Length of Service
- Mid-term: Two to twelve months
- Long-term: two or more years
Ministry Description
The worker will operate the coffee shop during designated hours (flexible). Assistance is also needed to help schedule and train volunteers. Relationships can be built with other volunteers and WGM staff as well as with community members through conversations and prayer together. By serving with WGM in McAllen, TX, you can help multiply impact for Christ on the Texas/Mexico Border.
Housing will be provided as part of your support package.

- Taylor Community Center (TCC) is in McAllen, Texas, located just eight miles north of Reynosa, Mexico.
- McAllen is in what is known as the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas. The population is a diverse mixture of immigrants and native Texans with a unique cultural heritage of both Spanish and English speakers.
- The ministry of World Gospel Mission in McAllen, beginning with the Taylor Christian School in 1948, has had a faithful testimony in the community for over 70 years.
- TCC was established in 2005 to reach neighborhood families by demonstrating God’s love relationally, physically, and spiritually.
