Japan: Retiree Prayer Team
Opportunities
Visiting with our missionaries and seeing a variety of sites in the Yokohama area of Tokyo, including WGM ministries plus a few other key areas, team members will make prayer their key focus, much like Joshua and the Israelites modeled in the Bible. A ministry bathed and based in prayer grows and has potential for amazing spiritual development. You're invited to join a team of 8–10 as we get to impact a nation where only 5% claim faith of any kind. We believe this profound prayer ministry will create ripple effects for decades to come.
Qualifications
- An active, growing faith in Jesus Christ
- Healthy back and knees, able to walk 3–5 miles/day
- Willingness to pray out loud
- Positive attitude
- Past experience with WGM teams preferable, but NOT necessary
- Willingness to try new things/activities and meet new people
- Believe that Jesus is STILL at work in our world
- Willingness to share a bedroom with teammates
Please note, specifically for Japan, we have been advised that there will be MANY steps. We would LOVE for you to join our team, but be sure your knees and back can take the effort of climbing and descending a lot for the 10-day period.

Monthly online check-ins and prayer preparation with rest of team. Preference that we use WhatsApp by phone, but Zoom may also be used. Required book (1) on prayer, to encourage ongoing growth.

Ministry Description
Prayer walks are simply walking assigned areas and praying. We will have maps and assigned areas, some driven areas, some days praying around a location (government buildings, etc.). We may focus on key factors or issues. We may have prayer, church, or youth meetings or other experiences, and all the while have prayer as our inner experience while in that situation. While the physical exertion is simple, the spiritual exercise can be profound.
